3693 — A Positive Separating Gaussian Seed Can Have Simple Off-Seam Zeros

Result

The strictly positive even seed

Φ=ϕa+cϕb,a>b>0,\Phi=\phi_a+c\phi_b, \qquad a>b>0,

has transform

F(z)=e−az2+ce−bz2.F(z)=e^{-az^2}+ce^{-bz^2}.

Its zeros obey

z2=−log⁡c+(2k+1)πia−b.z^2=-\frac{\log c+(2k+1)\pi i}{a-b}.

For c=1c=1, all are simple and off the imaginary seam despite positivity, evenness, heat covariance, spectral multiplicity one, and the seed's separating property.

Consequence

Pointed-source rigidity establishes provenance but supplies no zero-location orientation. The missing RH explanation must use a structural theta property absent from positive Gaussian mixtures, such as complete labelled Poisson sewing or arithmetic boundary incidence.
